The mission of America's Baby Cancer Foundation (ABCF) is to raise awareness of baby cancer, to provide aid and education for families with children with cancer, and to help fund research for a cure. Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death in children. We focus on birth to early childhood with diagnoses of rare cancers. We call these "baby cancers" - they are evident at birth or diagnosed shortly thereafter.
Maddox was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma at the beginning of August. He is traveling from his home in Virginia to treatment at Wills Eye Institute at CHOP in Philadelphia for the next 6 months. Assistance with travel and housing costs would be greatly appreciated.
1 yr. old, Hunter , has Ewing Sarcoma a rare aggressive bone cancer. He had surgery to remove a tumor and will continue to undergo chemo and proton radiation treatment over the next 12 months.

Baby Zach - who at 9 days old was diagnosed with a malignant teratoma and will lose his eye. Zach has to undergo chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor and his eye at different hospitals. His family needs help in transportation costs for frequent treatments from the Inland Empire to LA.

The ABCF was founded in 2000 in Long Beach, California, as Sebastian's Baby Cancer Foundation. It was started by Bernard and Antonia Hicks, following the loss of their child, Sebastian Hicks, at the age of nineteen months.
Sebastian was born with cancer of the neck and brain, and during his course of treatment, Bernard and Antonia realized the desperate need for research, aid and education for themselves, their son and for other families faced with baby cancer.
In 2002, the organization's name was changed to America's Baby Cancer Foundation to better reflect the expanding geographic reach of the Foundation, and the growing network of families who have suffered like experiences and who are working to build and support this entity.
Everyone knows of cancers which strike adults. There are hundreds of groups working to raise money to further the fight against Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer and Lung Cancer. Many people believe that cancer only strikes in our later years, yet cancer is the leading cause of disease-related deaths among children in the United States. And despite the efforts of researchers to find a cure, childhood cancer rates are increasing at a rate of approximately 1% each year. Everyday 36 children are diagnosed with Cancer!
What can we do to prevent baby cancers? We don't know. We need more research, better treatment options and better hope for the families. Families sometimes also need a break from the tough times associated with caring for a child with cancer.
Baby cancers affect the innocent who are too young to speak or fight for themselves. These babies and young children need your help. That's what America's Baby Cancer Foundation is all about. The foundation's goals are to raise money and provide help. Money for research, including both traditional and alternative programs. Money to provide financial assistance for treatment costs not covered by insurance, advice, counseling and useful information together with special treats for the families with children with cancer.
More and more cases of babies being born with cancer are being reported, including primary tumors of the brain, kidney, neck, and other areas of the body. Why? We don't know. How do we treat them? We don't always know. However, we do know that because of significant advances in therapy, 79% of these children will survive 5 years or more, an increase of almost 46% since the early 1960s, when childhood cancers were nearly always fatal. Consider the fact that every child saved has an entire lifetime to look forward to as opposed to the older adults we typically think of as having cancer, and it makes it even more surprising that the National Cancer Institute is only earmarking a startling 3% of its funds towards research into childhood cancers.
